Rebase model in a nutshell

  • At Rebase, we believe in an entrepreneurial mindset, which is why our salary model is both commission-based and fair. Think of it as a stable and fair model that also rewards the effort you put into your projects.
  • Our salary model is simple:
    • You’ll earn 50% of whatever you bill from clients, and we cover the employer-side costs.
    • To give you financial peace of mind, we also provide a guaranteed base salary (5,000 EUR for your first six months, then 3,000 EUR thereafter) regardless of whether you're in a project or not.
  • Your monthly pay is a combination of the guaranteed base salary and a variable part (dependent on billable hours and project's hourly rate).
  • As we invoice our clients by the hour, the variable part of your salary is always paid out the following month. This means that in your first month, you’ll receive your base salary (5,000 EUR), with earned commissions appearing in the following month's paycheck.

Example scenario:

  • At minimum, your total salary always includes the base salary.
  • If the variable part exceeds the base salary, you will receive the base salary and the variable part, depending on your billing. So as an example, if your monthly base salary is 3,000 EUR and the variable salary amounts to 6,500 EUR in the given month, you will be paid the total salary of 6,500 EUR.
  • In this case, as per usual, the total salary is a combination of the base salary (3,000 EUR) and the variable part of the salary (in this example, 3,500 EUR).

Flexible ways of working

  • At Rebase, we operate as a remote-first company, although some of our clients might want you on-site occasionally (ranging from 1-3 times a week or to just a couple of times per quarter). You can also work from our parent company Gofore’s offices in Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, or Jyväskylä.

Holidays and absences

  • At Rebase, annual holiday pay is determined in accordance with the Finnish Annual Holidays Act:
    • Annual holiday pay is calculated based on the average salary earned during the previous holiday credit year (1 April–31 March).
    • If you join mid-period, your guaranteed base salary will serve as the baseline (5000 EUR or 3000 EUR, depending which one is valid in that month when holiday pay is paid), with any commission-based earnings included from months where applicable, to determine the pay for your first holiday period.

Annual holiday accrual

  • Annual holidays accrue according to the traditional Finnish model:
    • During your first summer (when you may not yet have accrued full holidays), every new Rebase employee can take up to four weeks of unpaid leave.
    • Exceptionally, in this situation, unpaid leave taken during the first holiday year at Rebase does not affect the accrual of your holidays for the next holiday year. In other words, even if you take all of July off as unpaid holidays, you’ll still earn annual holidays for that month.

Sick leave and public holidays

  • If you get sick, you will get paid your base salary and, in addition, the part of the salary that is calculated as the average of the variable parts of the salary for the last six (6) months.
    • If you become ill in your first month of employment, the sick pay is based on the base salary, as there is no accumulation of the variable part yet.
  • You’ll receive your regular base salary during public holidays.

Our recruitment process

  • At Rebase, our recruitment is always driven by real client needs, meaning that our recruitment process is all about finding the right project fit for you. Here's what you can expect:

  • Project search:

    • We will start by talking about your expertise and what you’d like to work on next.
    • We’ll then keep an eye out for a project that matches with your skills, experience and interests.
    • Timelines vary, but our goal is always to find the perfect match for our talents and client projects.
  • Competence interview:

    • Once a suitable project opportunity emerges, you'll have a 90-minute online Teams interview with two consultants.
    • In this interview, we will dive deeper into your skills and experience, and provide you an opportunity to learn more about our culture and ways of working.
    • We encourage open dialogue throughout the process, so ask us anything!
  • Customer interview:

    • Clients will also want to meet you, so our recruitment process typically also includes the client's own interview.
    • We'll prepare you for the interview, helping you highlight your strengths and ensuring a smooth, professional experience.
  • Employment contract and starting in your new project:

    • Once selected by the client, we will finalise the process by signing the employment contract and starting the onboarding process (onboarding you to Rebase and getting you started on your new project)
    • We always aim to arrange your starting date so that you can begin billing starting from your very first day.
